The minimum educational qualification
required to take on the IAS exam is graduation. You have to have a degree from
a recognized university to attempt the IAS exam conducted by the UPSC every
year. So that you start preparing for the IAS exam only after your
graduation .
Step to prepare for IAS after 12th
First thing is UPSC syllabus you must have to know IAS syllabus.
In UPSC exam it is not matter that in which stream (Arts, commerce, science) you have done your graduation degree .
But, according to topper you must have to take Arts stream in graduation and take optional subject during your graduation as optional subjects are the core subject matter of IAS exam.
you must have decided about your optional subject and I
believe you must have taken your graduation subject as your optional subject.
So you will need less time to prepare for the optional subject and you can
easily master the optional syllabus in 2 months.
optional subjects such as History, Geography, Political science, sociology are most popular optional subject and you have read any of this subject during your graduation you have definitely have an edge in UPSC exam.
However, if you decide to take up a different optional subject
don’t worry. Any optional subject can be mastered in six months’ time.

Improve your communication skill because IAS exam is three stage process, in which the last stage is personality test.

Develop your writing skill because, The second stage of IAS exam is the mains
exam is subjective in nature where you have to write essay type answers.
